How to Choose the Best Photographer For Your Family
With so many options for photographers offering various styles and aesthetics, choosing where to invest your money is an important decision. Not only should you be drawn to their photographs, but also be able to feel a sense of comfort and connection with your photographer. Afterall, to have authentic and genuine images, the person behind the camera should truly understand and “see” your family! The type of art I create is the type of art I believe in. I have a specific style and process that I use when I document for my families, and I wanted to share some of that here, so you can see if we would be the right fit for each other.

I specialize in lifestyle photography. For those that are not familiar, lifestyle photography offers elements of documentary style images mixed with lightly posed or directed images. I love to capture families in their natural elements, being their authentic selves. I want to capture real laughter and emotions. I use prompts rather than formal posing to illicit those real reactions.

I have developed a brief questionnaire that I give to all my families to help me learn more about them. I love to dive deeper into your story, so I can create a custom gallery of images true to your family. Plus, I make no apologies for loving to get to know on a personal level the families I am lucky enough to work with!

I take a laidback, child centered approach. I really don’t sweat the small stuff. So many of the families I work with have small kids, and many of them are worried how their children will handle our session together. I have three small kids myself, all of who happened to be very independent and autonomous! I let kids be themselves- explore, laugh, and play. That’s exactly what I want to capture. I take cues off of kids, we take breaks when we need to, and it makes for a relaxed atmosphere that translates into your photographs

When a client books with me, our relationship starts from that moment. I don’t simply wait to show up to our session, but check in with you in the days and weeks ahead of it, answer any questions I can, and send out prep guides. I take pride in creating a client experience, that extends beyond just our session!
