My Inspiration, Drive, and Biggest Takeaways from Sessions
As a professional photographer in my 5th year, I can truly say that I am living out a dream. My passion for photographing families, newborns, and maternity runs deep within the layers of my DNA. Everyday feels like a gift, being able to do this work. Sharing this with all of you is so incredibly special!
My Inspiration:
The inspiration behind my work goes back, way back! I began developing a passion for photography in high school. My first international trip was in high school, and I was obsessed with capturing every moment I could. And not just the “smile for the camera” pictures. But the different layers, that bottled up the feelings I was experiencing; The street scenes, the candid laughter, and details that would otherwise be forgotten.
Over the years, I travelled a lot. With each trip I took, I documented it all. And when I would come home, I always made albums. To me, these served as a visual story- proof of me being there, and an easy path to the past. These experiences shaped who I was, and each time I looked back, pieces of myself were recounted.
Fast forward to marriage, family, kids, and as the cliche goes, having kids changes you big time. The transition from full time NICU nurse to photographer took time. It was a gradual realization of a different path. I am so grateful to be here, trusted with your stories.
My Drive:
What is my drive and passion for this work? True belief in the power of photography. I know the power that images have served for me over the years. Sharing this same feeling with others is so fulfilling. What sets my work apart is that I really am looking within my clients- getting to know them, observing the in between moments, going a little deeper into documentation. The families I work with love this about their galleries. It is a true storytelling collection of your present.
Biggest Takeways:
As a photographer who is here to make you look your best, I am also very aware of the reality of moments. Pregnancy can be tough and uncomfortable. Little kids can be chaotic and stressful. Marriage and partnership can be challenging. Life is not perfect, and I am not trying to make it be. But there is romanticism and beauty in the ordinary. I am here to meet you where you are, where ever that is, because it deserves to be remembered. Finding your reasons why truly teaches me so much. and I learn something from every family I work with.
I am honored to be just a small part of documenting this wonderful journey of life. Whether they are big milestones or everyday moments, it is such a joy to meet you!
