Planning A Winter Maternity Experience
All The Details You Need To Know
Winter maternity sessions can be absolutely magical! I understand that some women may be unsure of the best way to document. After all, outdoors is cold and some may wonder what an indoor session would look like. I am here to help with the confusion! Both offer a unique lens into your maternity experience. So, let’s break it down.
OUTDOOR
Outdoor winter sessions are definitely possible, and I still do shoot outdoors throughout the winter! Winter light is absolutely gorgeous. It is soft and glowy, and very flattering in portraits. Snow creates a magical scene. The real obstacle is often the cold. If you want to plan an outdoor maternity session, be prepared to be a little chilly.
Styling can encompass layering to help offset any discomfort. If you would like to wear a dress, I recommend to bring a jacket to warm up in between shots. Also, consider comfortable and safe footwear in case we have snow or icy patches. If the temperatures are below 30 degrees, I will reach out to offer alternative options or we can brave it together!
INDOOR
Indoor sessions are more popular in the winter months, and often take on an intimate/ boudoir focus. Each woman is different on how they want to remember their pregnancy. I love intimate maternity sessions, because it offers a close up look at your bodies, the changes, and your beautiful transformation.
I recognize this is a personal experience for everyone, and so if you choose an intimate collection, we work closely to make sure the experience is a comfortable and fun time for everyone!
Of course we can do indoors in a more casual way. Styling can be whatever you would like, and I can work with you ahead of time to advise on what is best. Most women choose to do a combination of both intimate and casual, which offers two unique perspectives into maternity.
