Information to Plan the Perfect Session
You are expecting a baby and interested in lifestyle newborn photography! I am so happy you landed here. I want to provide an informative space for you, and share all about my process with you. My approach to newborn photography is unique in it’s simplicity. I truly believe that there isn’t much needed to make a great photograph. It is the connection I am all about! So let’s dive in a bit to lifestyle newborn photography.
There are so many options when considering a newborn photographer. I am sure by this point you have Pinterest’d all your ideas, so you have an idea what you are drawn to. My personal philosophy is that less is more.
Props are rarely used (but I will use all of your own keepsakes and sentimental objects). Babies are magical just as they are. When there is less “stuff” in your photos, it allows the magic of the moment to really shine through.
I also don’t overly direct. I will put you into a “pose” but my favorite is when it comes apart. We all need a little direction, and let’s be honest, we all want to know the good angles and lighting! I will help with that of course! But once I direct a specific pose, feel free to make it your own. Laugh a little, be curious, conversational, engaging. The best photographs I capture are the in between moments when you forget I am there.
We let go of perfection. Perfection is a funny word. What does perfect really mean? The reality is babies will cry, need to be changed/ fed (and probably all in the time I am there!) Some babies are colic, or just having an off day (happens to me all the time!) My best advice to is to let go of what we can’t control. You have planned the outfits, the timing, and have showed up. That is a lot of work as it is. Let me take care of the rest! I have done countless newborn sessions, and have not had one bad one yet! (and don’t plan to).
