Tips to Manage Summer Heat when Planning Family Photos
How to Still Look and Feel Good When It Is Hot!
Summer heat is no joke in the Hudson Valley! We have had some pretty brutal days, and what makes it even harder is the humidity. On a really hot day, being cool inside in your air conditioning is ideal, but what if you have family photos planned!? I have been in some sessions where it has been hot! But don’t worry, I have you covered!
Let’s talk about how to best manage this situation. I know you don’t want to see beads of sweat in your photos, or sweat stains on your clothes! If it looks like a particularly hot day for your photos, I will reach out with some tips.
- First off, I want to make sure everyone stays hydrated, so keep water on hand! This will especially be helpful for kids. No liquids that can stain, just water (with ice cubes!) is fine!
- When it comes to styling, please be sure to choose loose, light colored clothing. Dark clothes not only will attract heat, but will also show sweat/ water stains. Choosing light, breathable clothing will help everyone feel cool.
- Keep a washcloth on hand in case you need to wipe off any sweat. I will let you know if I see anything, but having this handy will be a lifesaver! Some of us sweat more than others, so just dabbing your skin will help control sweat.
- If we are at your home, we can always take a quick AC break for you to cool down. Sometimes that is needed if it is particularly oppressive.
- At the end of the session, feel free to jump in the lake, pool, sprinkers – whatever! Those photos are the best, and make everything feel fun and relieving. Those in the moment photos are my favorites, and you will have amazing memories from it.
So if you are planning summer photos, don’t worry if it is supposed to be exceptionally warm- I have you covered! Let’s enjoy these balmy summer nights, and create forever memories!
