Maternity Styling Tips For Your Photography Experience
Ensuring You Look and Feel Your Best
Maternity photography experiences are exciting. After all, they are encompassing this journey you have been on these last few months, but also one that is about to transition into motherhood. It is a snapshot of a really special moment in time, and I know you want to look and feel your best.
Pregnancy brings up lots of feelings for many women! Some women feel great in their pregnancy and changing bodies, while others don’t always feel good. Especially if you have a high risk pregnancy, this time can also be stressful. But I truly believe that no matter what your experience is, this time is worth remembering. It is a time when your body is going through so many changes to bring life into the world. It is nothing short of miraculous.
No matter what your maternity experience is, I want to do what I can to support your planning into looking and feeling your best. After we are scheduled, I will send you my welcome guide which will offer resources during planning. Some of these include makeup and hair recommendations, styling guidelines, and logistics for the day of.
Hair and makeup services can really help your overall feeling of confidence on session day. I know it is not for everyone and that is totally OK, but if it is something you would like to consider, I share some recommendations!
Additionally styling is a huge part of any session. But especially for maternity, I really think it is important to find something that helps you look and feel your best. Every client has access to a wonderful service, that I love so much! From someone who doesn’t always know what goes with what, this service not only helps you coordinate with other family members, but offers tons of options based on your styling and color preferences.
One thing I like to remind families of, is that clothes that look good for a party aren’t always the most photogenic. This service has you covered with options that not only look good, but photograph beautifully too! Each family I work with will get exclusive access.
Some other things to keep in mind:
- find something that helps you look and feel your best- first and foremost!
- pay attention to color. Bright colors don’t photograph well and can often color cast skin. That doesn’t mean no color at all. Try instead a softer, more muted tone. Pair with neutrals for a pulled together look
- Consider flowy dresses for extra movement. Movement helps keep things natural and flowy dresses are often flattering for every body type.
- If you have multiple people/ kids in the session, choose “maternity” outfit first, and design everyone else around your choice.
- don’t be afraid of pattern! Pattern is beautiful if done right. One pattern is recommended and can coordinate with other solids and textures.
I am always available as a resource for any styling needs during your session planning. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!
