Capture The Magic During The Holidays With Your Children
Tips You Can Use at Home with Any Camera
The holiday season has always been a time of wonder and joy, especially when you have children. After my kids were born, I really had this desire to document all of that wonderment and magic. And it is something we all can do, even with just an iPhone! Here are my best tips and tricks for unforgettable holiday photos:
– Choosing a Theme: Themes can add an extra layer of magic to your holiday photos. Whether it’s a winter wonderland, a cozy indoor setting, or even a vintage holiday scene, picking a theme helps create a cohesive and visually stunning series of photos
– Picking the Ideal Location: The location sets the stage for the magic to unfold. For winter-themed photos, try a snowy landscape or a local ice skating rink. If you’re aiming for cozy indoor shots, consider a decorated living room with a roaring fire. If you like vintage scenes (like me!) consider visiting a local historical site that may be decorated already for the holidays.
– The Importance of Lighting: Proper lighting can make or break your photos. Natural light works best for both outdoor and indoor shots, although you can really get some creative looks with holiday lights!
– Styling: Choosing the right outfits for your kids is essential. Cozy sweaters, holiday-themed pajamas, or even costumes that match your chosen theme can make your photos truly magical.
– Adding Props: Props can add that extra dash of magic to your photos. Think about using items like holiday ornaments, fake snow, or even a magic wand to create captivating scenes.
– Capturing Candid Moments: While posed shots are great, don’t forget to capture candid moments as well. Some of the most enchanting photos are those taken when your kids are lost in the magic of the moment, whether it’s opening presents, building a snowman, or decorating cookies.
Capturing magical photos of my kids during the holidays has been a favorite pastime of mine. Looking back on the memories we captured has allowed me to relive the memories over the years. I hope you too can feel inspired to capture these moments with your own family.
