How Printing Can Protect Your Session Investment
You have made the decision to invest in documenting your family’s memories. Photographs are one of the few investments that grow in value over time. Showing your images to your children, grandchildren, and so on is such a special gift. In the days of the digital world, it can be easy to leave your photos on your computer and forget to do much with them, thinking that they will always be there. I do not recommend this, as technology is not fool proof. When I deliver galleries I always recommend one or two forms of backup, in case anything happened to your computer. Additionally, photos are meant to be printed! Whether framing, prints, or albums, having your photographs printed gives you the tangible proof of your memories to always have protected. And while there are many options for printing available, printing from your photographer has many advantages!
Part of your investment into your photography experience is editing by your photographer. You were drawn to your photographer for many reasons but I bet one of the big ones was that you loved how your photographer delivered the finished product- their colors, the art, and style. Every photographer is slightly different, and that person has worked really hard to create the art that you have invested in. And believe it or not, no two labs are the same! I learned early on that one lab printed my photos, and my colors looked completely different than what was on my screen. Even with a calibrated monitor, it still happens. I performed a lot of trial and error to make sure that the lab I finally settled on, prints my work exactly how I want it to be delivered to you.
So yes, while you may pay more for prints and art work from your photographer, there is always a reason behind it all. When you display your family’s memories in your home, or have them in an album, make sure the art is rendered accurately and perfectly to stand the test of time- so your investment can keep increasing in value over the years and protected to be shared with generations to come.
