Hudson Valley Family and Newborn Photographer
Stephanie Lozano Photography
I have always been drawn to all elements of the human condition. That is what brought me to my nursing career in neonatal intensive care. I witnessed the high of highs, and with that, came the low of lows. As strange as it may sound, feeling like I could do a small part to comfort and console a grieving family, made me feel like my job mattered, and that I was making a difference. When I left nursing to stay home with my kids, that drive never left me. I realized that photography is an incredible art that can be used for a similar purpose. If I could continue to somehow do my part, to help families that may be going to unimaginable tragedies or sorrows, I wanted to. This led me to create my Remembrance Sessions.
I try to not overly define these. Generally speaking, I have created these as a tool for families to memorialize a loved one or situation. For instance, a loved one has gone home to hospice care, or maybe recently diagnosed with a terminal condition. A family that may be going through the unimaginable loss of an infant or child. It can be also used as a celebratory way, to celebrate the last chemo treatment, or overcoming a seemingly impossible hurdle. I am open to a variety of situations, and willing to lend my tools as a photographer to create a legacy for your family.
We work closely prior to your session, so that I have a clear understanding of your story and the circumstances. I create imagery that is guided by your preferences and requests. I never will take any photographs that you are not comfortable with. I am here to lend my services in the best way that you see fit.
Please know, I am aware and sensitive to the fact that not all phases in life are happy and joyous. I still believe strongly that if you want a side of your story to be told that may be painful, but important nonetheless, I am here for you. Please reach out below if you have any questions or would like to speak to me regarding a remembrance session.
In love and light
