Spring Family Photography Sessions in the Hudson Valley

Incorporating Elements for your Spring Family Photography Session

How I use environment in your portraits

Springtime is a magical season! Scheduling a spring family photography session is a perfect time to capture beautiful natural family portraits. Sunrise and sunset times are still forgiving for young kids, the weather is typically comfortable, not too hot or cold. One of my favorite elements I use in my photography is the storytelling of environment. My love of photography started with travel and landscape, and keeping that in mind when documenting your family is something very important to me. In my photographs, you will see pulled back images spanning environment, mixed in with those close up emotive moments; both equally beautiful. One of my favorite parts of the environmental aspect of an image is using the changing of seasons (which we are lucky to have here in the northeast!) to showcase your story. And springtime is a perfect time to do this.

One of my favorite locations in spring are the beautiful orchards that are around us here in the Hudson Valley. Mid May is peak apple blossom season, and orchards are absolutely stunning. Also, locations that have a high concentration of flowering trees such as dogwoods or magnolias are a perfect way to show off the beauty of spring. When we plan your session, we will talk about spots that speak to you and your family most. It is so important to me that your family feels comfortable where we land. It is that comfort and happiness that will come through your images, and will also lend a personalized feel to your collection.

Welcome

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of authentic documentation. Our stories and truths are not only a gift for ourselves, but also through the generations, becoming treasured keepsakes as proof of our place and time. My passion lies in storytelling that focuses on your present moments. Whether our adventures take us deep into the Hudson Valley, high in the Catskill Mountains, or within the comfort of your home, it is always about where you are meant to be and where you feel the most alive.
