Styling Guidance to Look and Feel Your Best
Tools I Offer to Families in the Hudson Valley and beyond
Styling is a huge part of your session, but also something that leads to a lot of stress! Good styling can completely change the whole look of your gallery for the better. It is a big way to have your personalities and individuality shine through. But I get it, styling for yourself is hard, but for a whole family? That sounds downright stressful! I got you!
I learned early on the importance of styling and how it relates to your session. Using your clothing to enhance a mood is powerful. Depending on your location, when you match your style to the vibe you are looking to create, it changes everything for the better. I personally don’t believe in or use a client closet, because I am a huge proponent of unique individuality. Being in something that makes you feel comfortable is my best advice.
Another thing to consider is that just because something may come together in real life, doesn’t always mean it will photograph well. Texture and movement are my favorite qualities to see in styling. I also love color and patterns (when used right!)
So how do you pull looks together? My favorite tool that I offer to families is Style and Select. Each family that works with me gets a unique code, and from there it’s basically like personalized stylists. You choose your favorite color palette, overall look, and who you are styling in your family. From there, you are generated photographer approved pieces at a variety of price points, from your favorite stores! From Old Navy to small boutiques, it pulls from everywhere.
I also love to give my personalized recommendations in your welcome guide to further help. No better place to look first than your own closet! Style and Select is a great tool for inspiration too, and to see how things come together. More often than not, you may find you already have a great wardrobe in your closet.
I totally get styling is stressful, no matter who you are trying to dress! I want to make that part easy for you, so you can focus on the important things. When you look and feel your best, it comes through in your images. So my best advice is don’t underestimate the power of good styling. Find a look that feels like you, and elevates your images!
