How to style your family flawlessly without the stress | Hudson Valley Family and Newborn Photographer

Stephanie Lozano Photography

One of the questions I get asked the most is how to plan out outfits for your family photos. My philosophy with choosing a wardrobe is that simple and timeless always works. My goal is for your family to go beyond trendy looks, and style for photographs that will stand the test of time. Elements of time are sure to be present in any photos, but classic looks will always look stunning for years to come. So that when you do look back 5-10-15 years from now, you can still proudly display your photographs without worrying that fading trends will be a part of them!

When you book a session with me, I provide a detailed guide to choosing outfits and coordinating family members, so that the process doesn’t seem as daunting. It really doesn’t have to be complicated. I share all of my favorite shops for amazing looks, and tips on how to tie it all together.

I’m excited to share a few styling tips here!

  • I always suggest mom to plan her outfit first and style the family around her choice.

  • Choose a color family and coordinate within that tone. That way you can complement each other, without overly matching.

  • For a classic look, layering neutrals always looks timeless

  • Keep in mind the season, and backdrop of your photos when you think about your outfits. You can bring in colors from your environment for a gorgeous and coordinated look.

Hope this helps the next time you have to think about choosing outfits for your family photography session!

Welcome

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of authentic documentation. Our stories and truths are not only a gift for ourselves, but also through the generations, becoming treasured keepsakes as proof of our place and time. My passion lies in storytelling that focuses on your present moments. Whether our adventures take us deep into the Hudson Valley, high in the Catskill Mountains, or within the comfort of your home, it is always about where you are meant to be and where you feel the most alive.
