There are countless ways to document pregnancy, and intimate maternity sessions are a beautiful way to remember this time in a more personal manner. I started offering intimate maternity sessions last year, as a contrast to outdoor golden hour portraits. Both of these sessions are gorgeous in their own unique way! For those women interested in a more personal way to document pregnancy, here is some more information on intimate maternity sessions with me.
The goal with these is for every woman I work with to feel safe, supported, and heard. I recognize that it can be a vulnerable place to be, documenting your changing body in such an exposed way. This is why before each session, I make a point to connect with you on the phone ahead of our time together. We chat any preferences, wishes, vision, insecurities, and things you are and are not comfortable with. This helps me on session day, creating a comfortable environment for you!
I will also send you an email with specific prep tips for intimate maternity sessions. I will also go over different props that I have available to bring. While I don’t often use props in my work, I have found for intimate maternity sessions, items such as candles, screens, and blankets can add to the storytelling component of your photos. It is a natural and beautiful way to highlight connection, a little mood, and depth as well!
Many women will also opt for a few “traditional” photos as well, to add some variety to their galleries. We can either step outside for these or do these in home. I love giving you a diverse gallery to remember this experience by, and this is a perfect way to that! And of course I am here for any support or advice along the way, from just general info to styling. These sessions are completely customized to each woman and what feels most like “them!”
